Well, I’m glad to have these mini stories from the Game of Thrones series done. The short stories weren’t exceptionally great, featured none of our beloved characters, but did provide interesting backstory I suppose. I guess I’m just glad to put GRR (and that’s how I think of him in my head now, grrrrrr….) Martin out of my life.
This one was moderately better than the middle one in the trio, but not as good as the first. I also didn’t feel like they were incredibly well written or even WORTH being written at all…like maybe these were necessary for him to WRITE to get his head straight and find the real story, but not good enough to be published. Bleh, again, it felt more like Martin glorifying his own story but not providing anything new to the reader. Authors, it seems, should know better than to publish their background notes. Yuck.
(Sorry, no cover pic was available anywhere online for this that I could find since it seemed to have been originally published in an anthology of sorts.)
