The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom

From Goodreads:

In Mitch Albom’s newest work of fiction, the inventor of the world’s first clock is punished for trying to measure God’s greatest gift. He is banished to a cave for centuries and forced to listen to the voices of all who come after him seeking more days, more years. Eventually, with his soul nearly broken, Father Time is granted his freedom, along with a magical hourglass and a mission: a chance to redeem himself by teaching two earthly people the true meaning of time.

Ugh. Why do I keep reading this guy? I know! I’m sure it’s a crime to say this (a similar offense, if no less egregious, than Kelley’s dislike of John Green’s latest two, I’m sure). I must be the devil or something, but I don’t LIKE Albom’s books (ok, except for Tuesdays with Morrie). They’re mawkish and try too hard to be profound. I’m not even sure I even get this one because I keep thinking I’m missing something because there HAS to be more to it than this. Really? A whole book about how we should appreciate the time we’re given on Earth because it is limited? Shouldn’t a book about this be more…touching or eloquent or something? BLAH. I think we’re back to my good ol’ “I hate books” phase. And someone please tell Amazon that the devil wants her $9.50 back…
